But, she thought, as a smile curved her lips, despite the sadness she was starting to accept, this child was no burden. She would make sure it would become nothing like its father. Its father would be the man she loved, not the man whose seed had caused this little creature to come into existence. Together with her love, she could face the nightmares, the memories, that would haunt her. This was her child, not the one of the man who tried to take what was never his.
